London  - Everton signed Brazilian forward Jo on loan from Manchester City on Monday.

Manager David Moyes had tracked the player over the summer, but Everton were unable to afford the fee.

Jo made little impression at City, scoring just three goals in 18 appearances.

He is short-term cover for Everton's raft of injured strikers, notably Louis Saha and Yakubu. (dpa)
