Engineered stem cells may improvise the condition of cardiac caseGenetically engineered stem cells have come in handy once again as it helps curb upon organ damage and helps in betterment of cardiac function after a heart attack, as stated by the latest animal study.

The study was conducted by the lead of Matthias Siepe, the assistant professor and staff surgeon at the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Medical University Center in Freiburg, Germany with his colleagues.

The group of researchers tried to detect the role of cytokines ie, the substance produced by cells that have a visible effect on different cells, might have a role to play in a situation after heart attack.

The team injected rats with tiny polyurethane scaffolds that consisted of genetically engineered stem cells. The results observed for the same revealed a better condition in case of the functioning of blood pressure in case of rats who were injected with the modified stem cells.

Also it was seen that the blood dynamics were also reported normal in case of rats who were injected with scaffolds that contained unmodified stem cells.
