East and West come together to fight piracy

PiracyEast's Bollywood and West's Hollywood have come together to fight the ghost of piracy.

This came in news after leading Bollywood producers joined hands with Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) to stop the spread of piracy.

These two are the two biggest film markets in the world.

The top India film producing houses which are taking part in this initiative are- Reliance Big Entertainment, YashRaj Films and UTV Motion Pictures. They are putting in their money and their brains to stop the biggest threat to the film industry.

This was announced after the closing ceremony of the FICCI Frames industry conference. The event was held to discuss the area of piracy and counterfeit DVDs. The main aim of the talks was, however, the online piracy, which causes loss ranging in millions.

Talking about the same, Harish Dayani, CEO, Moser Baer Entertainment said that as much as 700 million dices are sold, which generate Rs. 15 billion in illegal trade.

He said that if it is not stopped, Bollywood will face serious problems.

The seriousness can be understood from the fact that a report by Ernst & Young said that the Indian film industry losses $959 million and 571,896 jobs because of piracy.
