London, Jan 21: A dollhouse, believed to have been decorated by Jane Eyre author Charlotte Bronte, is going up for auction.

The little house, which comes complete with its miniature furniture and dolls, is part of a two-day auction of the private collection of antique dealer Roger Warner.

Andrew Waters, Christies' director of private collections and country house sales, has revealed that this is a unique piece of Bronte's.

"I am not aware of any other recorded item that has been decorated by Charlotte Bronte, which gives this piece a unique and charming personal connection with such an iconic figure," the Telegraph quoted him as saying.

The house, arranged inside a cabinet, has four George II rooms and it dates back to 1750, but it is said that Bronte had redecorated it during the summer of 1839.

Bronte was at the time working as a governess for the Sidgwicks, a wealthy family living at Stonegappe in Skipton, Yorkshire.

Warner is thought to have paid around 400 pounds for it in 1974, and its auction guide price is set for between 5,000 pounds and 8,000 pounds. (ANI)
