Dollar Stronger Against RupeeFollowing the global meltdown, the rupee fell down by 25 paisa against the US dollar. Today, the rupee traded at its two week lowest of Rs 44.54/55 against the US currency. However, because of the global pressure on the rupee, it tumbled down in the markets.

It has further been reported that the dollar has stood stronger against euro. On Thursday, the euro stood at $1.4089, down from $1.4246 at end of domestic currency market. However, the index of the dollar against six major currencies was up 0.15% to 75.238 points from 74.766 points previously.

It has come to light that the Japanese yen, even after being affected by the global meltdown, is enjoying record high fiscal and economic conditions. The US investors have been investing in the currency as the currency is proving profitable in the exchange-rate market.

However, in the currency futures market, the most traded near-month dollar-rupee contracts on the National Stock Exchange, the MCX-SX and the United Stock Exchange were all at 44.9425, with the total volume at $6.56 billion.

There is no doubt that the global financial disorder is sending shock waves as a result of it Indian shares have been tumbling down. Today, the barometer index BSE Sensex hit its lowest level in more than 13 months.
