Dissolved IHF Wants Early Elections
The dissolved IHF on Wednesday demanded early elections to restore itself by the IOA and has even threatened to take legal action against the governing body if their demands are not met. The IHF, which was disbanded by the IOA last year, was here with representatives of 28 state associations and said it wanted that the governing body should soon announce the dates for the next election.
In order to put pressure on the IOA’s ad-hoc committee, it is learnt that the Bengal Hockey Association (BHA), with support from various other state federations, is at the fore front of the new campaign to announce the dates for the election.
Speaking on this, BHA president J B Roy said, “It has been 11 months since the IHF was dissolved and since then ad-hoc committee is running the game. What we want is fair and transparent elections which we were promised by IOA president Suresh Kalmadi.”
He also disproved IOA's claim that elections cannot be held till the case filed by sacked IHF chief KPS Gill is settled in the Delhi High court.
"There is no bar in holding elections. KPS Gill has filed a case challenging his dismissal as the IHF president. What has it got to do with election," he said.
Roy also asserted that apart from the 28 associations, he also has the support of four other state bodies. However, he refused to disclose the names of such bodies.
