Despite Financial Issues, AI’s Operation Remains IntactAccording to reports, looking beyond the important meeting of a ministerial panel on the future of Air India, the ‘beleaguered flag carrier’ has indicated that Air India’s operations were still intact despite their financial issues.

Also, in a presentation forwarded to the Group of Ministers and headed by Finance Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, the airline stated: “The passenger load factor, which indicates the efficiency of utilizing seat capacity, has improved from 59.5 % in 2008-09 to 66.7 % in the year 2010-11”.

However, different steps were introduced and adopted since April 2009 to combine the various systems used by Air India and Indian Airlines like moving to a single 'AI flight-cod’, using single software for ticketing, etc.

Hence, ‘flight planning system’ has been initiated and will lead to the saving of fuel, and the airline emphasized that it has gotten rid of up to 46 old aircraft from its fleet, as well as bringing in new ones.

Moreover, the state-owned oil marketing companies are contemplating stopping discounts given to airline companies on aviation turbine fuel, as the action is said to assist companies such as; Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum and Indian Oil save enough money every month.
