Chinese, Japanese truck majors eye Indian market
There is no denying to the fact that the Indian car makers have had to grapple with severe competition from Chinese and Japanese players.
While the Chinese and Japanese players have always landed with better and more fuel efficient products, but it's the turn of the local truck makers who may be forced to change their stodgy ways.
It has been learned that two Japanese players Isuzu and Hino and two Chinese firms FAW and Foton are all set to enter into the Indian shores and are just giving finishing touches to their plans for the tiger's land.
It has been learned from the sources that several officials from these companies have been in discussion with potential dealers to set up joint ventures or enter distribution and marketing tie-ups with companies in the recent past. It is to be mentioned here that Hino Motors, part of the Toyota group has already imported around 200 premium-range vehicles.
While the products from Hino are expected to be in the premium range, the Chinese truck maker Foton has competitively priced models in the low- to mid-range, popularly called the Forland series.
