China’s ZTE fails Indian security test
Chinese handset maker, ZTE said on Wednesday that it has failed to meet the security requirements of Indian government. This, it said, was told by the operators.
This failure may stop the company from selling its products in India and that may deny it the opportunity of competing in the second fastest growing mobile handset market of India.
ZTE supplies network gears to the Indian players. The whole issue started after India started to check the hardware of mobile citing security as the motive.
The Chinese hardware producer said that it will take a series of measures to be able to meet the requirements. One of this, would obviously be, setting up of a manufacturing plant in India itself.
While India has denied any kind of banning of Chinese products, media reports suggest otherwise.
In a statement to this, ZTE has said that it understands the security concerns in India and will unconditionally support and co-operate Indian government.
But it also added that it expects that India treats it the same way that it does with others.
Chinese equipment makers like ZTE and Huawei Technologies, have already started a charm offensive in return to the expected entry restrictions.
