Chevrolet unveils a special Hot Wheels Edition of Camaro

Chevrolet unveils a special Hot Wheels Edition of CamaroAt the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) trade show, which kicked off in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Chevrolet unveiled a special Hot Wheels Edition of its Camaro car.

With the Camaro being one of the first Hot Wheels cars to be manufactured by Mattel toy company way back in 1968, the unveiling of the Camaro Hot Wheels Edition marks Chevrolet's plans to return Mattel's favor; and also to further strengthen its long and prosperous association with the toy company.

About the move to add the Hot Wheels Edition to the Chevrolet Camaro lineup, General Motors (GM) said in a press release that it is for the first time that any automaker has offered a full-size production Hot Wheels car for sale.

The sales of the Camaro Hot Wheels Edition will commence in early 2013; with the special edition to be available as an optional $6,995 upgrade on the 2013 models of both Chevrolet Camaro and Camaro convertible.

With the final design for the Camaro Hot Wheels Edition having been taken from one of five sketches drawn up by Felix Holst - chief designer of Hot Wheels -, the special edition will boast a bright metallic blue paint scheme, exclusive graphics, and red-streaked 21-inch wheels, along with Hot Wheels flame badges on the fenders and trunk lid.

Expressing excitement about the Camaro Hot Wheels Edition, Holst said that he had been designing cars for Hot Wheels for nearly two decades, and added: "I can't wait to open the doors and see the Hot Wheels Camaro sitting in the garage."
