Chevrolet Spark and Tavera helped GM India to grow at 64% in September

General Motors India has reported a 64 % rise in its domestic vehicle sales during the month o0f September. The company was able to sell more cars as it focused on customer requirements and offered wide range catering to different segments.

The new entrant  was able to sell 1500 units last month. In the month of September, collective sales of all models in India stood at 5751 units compared to nearly 3500 units during last September.

Chevrolet Tavera remained the most selling car in Multi-Utility range with sales crossing 1950 units. Chevrolet Aveo and luxury sedan Chevrolet Optra sales were also higher. GM is expecting the small car segment to grow in coming years. The company has more focus in this segment and it might prove to be the main growth driver for General Motors in India.

In an official statement, Mr. P Balendran VP GM India said, "The year 2007 so far has been a remarkable and wonderful period for General Motors India. With the consistent surge in monthly sales, our key focus remains to address the changing customer needs while providing them world class products and best in class service."

Chevrolet Beat may be next car in small car segment from GM India. The company plans to launch the car in four variants; two diesel engine (1 and 1.3 litre) and two for petrol engine (1.2 and 1.4 litres).
