Chandrasekhar Rao resigns as Telangana Rashtra Samithi head
Hyderabad, June 3 :Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday resigned from his post following party`s poor show in the recently concluded Andhra Pradesh by-elections with party winning only seven out of the 16 assembly seats it had vacated.
The TRS had forced the by-elections by en masse resignation over Telangana statehood issue but the move seems to have backfired.
Disappointed with the results, Rao had offered to quit the day results were announced but was dissuaded by the party top brass.
K Chandrasekhar Rao had retained his Karimnagar Lok Sabha seat with a slender margin of 15,289 votes.
The ruling Congress party which is in power in the state bagged Adilabad Lok Sabha and six Assembly seats, while Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won Warangal Lok Sabha and five Assembly seats. (ANI)
