Chandigarh, June 6 : Members of Chandigarh's 'Nonsense Club' lampooned the fuel price hike by launching mobile ovens to make bread for the common man.

In a hard hitting political satire, members of the club named the ovens as 'Murli Mobile Tandoor', pointing an accusing finger at Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora.

The president of the 'Nonsense Club', Jaspal Bhatti, escorted the ovens on horseback to drive home the point that using vehicles was beyond his means after the rise in prices of petrol.

"We have launched a mobile oven named 'Murli Mobile Tandoor'. I am escorting the mobile oven on horseback, as I can't afford a scooter. It has become difficult to use car because petrol has become really expensive. It might be possible also that I shift to donkey or mule after some time if petrol prices rises further," said Bhatti.

Members of the club along with Bhatti and his wife Savita took out the procession on a hand-pulled cart, singing songs in order to get the attention of locals.

Women members provided baked bread on demand to the residents.

"Cooking gas and petrol have become really expensive. Common man cannot afford a gas cylinder these days. So for their convenience, we are going door-to door to provide them with baked bread so that they don't face any difficulty," said Savita.

The Government raised prices for petrol by 5 rupees, diesel by 3 rupees and cooking gas cylinder by 50 rupees.

The hike has triggered a backlash across the political spectrum with political parties saying that it would stoke inflation further, which has already badly hurt the common man. (ANI)
