London, Apr 5 : Actor Chace Crawford has been mobbed by teenage girls ever since his name was attached to `Footloose' remake.

The Gossip Girl star has reportedly auditioned to replace Zac Efron in the 1984 film remake, after the latter dropped out.

And studio bosses are said to be happy with his screen test.

The 23-year-old star has faced constant serenading from his female fans while filming hit show Gossip Girl in New York, which has forced TV execs to beef up the security.

It has also forced Crawford to seek refuge in his native Texas.

"They had to beef up security because more girls have been showing up to set every day singing Footloose," the Daily Express quoted a source as telling E! Online.

"He couldn''t take it anymore, so he''s leaving town tomorrow," the source added. (ANI)
