Buses with doors on both the sides are taken over by regular buses in Pune
Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) had issued a tender for purchasing buses with doors on both sides but Chairman of the civic standing committee, Arvind Shinde announces a one day dead line to PMPML to withdraw its tender.
He also said that civic bodies would issue a short notice to purchase 200 regular buses in the replacement of buses with doors on both sides.
On Tuesday, the PMC standing committee had decided that PMPML should withdraw its tender for the purchase of 500 buses with doors on both sides. If this public transport company fails to withdraw its tender by Wednesday then the Congress, Shiv Sena and BJP collectively passed a resolution that the civic body will purchase these buses and pass it on to PMPML.
Shinde said that civic bodies have waited for one day but there was no message from PMPML regarding their withdrawal, so as decided earlier they had issued a short notice issuing for the purchase of regular buses.
According to Shinde, purchasing buses with doors on both sides reduces the sitting capacity and increase the expenses.
He said that regular buses are buses with doors on the left side, purchasing buses with right hand side door also reduces the sitting capacity by 10 seats. So they recommended for purchasing buses with left side door.
Shinde also said that it was found that PMPML had not withdrawn its tender for purchasing buses so now civic bodies have to issue a tender of their own. But before issuing this tender it needs to be discussed before the standing committee.
Shinde said that PMPML and PMC both have made arrangements of funds for purchasing buses, in this venture the civic bodies have refused to jointly collaborate with PMPML since it is acting as an independent body.
Mayor Mohansingh Rajpal said the entire issue will be discussed before the committee, once it is formed.
