Broad lauds teammates for thrilling T-20 win over India

Broad lauds teammates for thrilling T-20 win over IndiaManchester, Sep 1 : England captain Stuart Broad on Wednesday hailed his team's effort in their thrilling six wicket victory over India in a T-20 match here.

India slumped from 104-1 to 165 all out at Old Trafford, with the impressive Jade Dernbach taking four wickets for 22 runs.

"We probably didn''t start as well as we like to do in the first 10 overs, we got slightly wrong and we need to exceed that. But the way we clawed back was testimony to the character of the side," said Broad.

Broad also praised Dernbach, who is becoming a key performer for England in the limited-overs format.

Meanwhile, Dernbach said he was thrilled to be making an impact in international cricket.

"It is (bowling) about constantly changing and staying ahead of the game and it goes with bowling in general, that''s the rule when it comes to in the realms of cricket. As long as I can do that and try and stay one step ahead of the batters, long may my success continue," said Dernbach.

India skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that his side lost because they lost wickets in quick succession at crucial junctures.

"We were may be 12-15 runs short in the sense because we lost quick wickets in the middle overs, which meant we were not able to score, which we should have. Of course we were forced to push a bit hard in the sense we didn''t have too many bowling options," said Dhoni.

However, Dhoni also ruled out the possibility of the team going in with five bowlers in the forthcoming one-day series.

"But it looks very unlikely that we will go with five bowlers and six batters, it will be a bit difficult because I don''t think we have recently in the past may be one and a half two years, we haven''t played with five bowlers. So, it''s a difficult choice, a lot depends on the batting department and the bowling department," he added. (ANI)
