British soldier killed in Afghanistan

London - A British soldier was killed by a bomb in Afghanistan, bringing to 125 the number of British forces killed there since operations began in 2001, the Defence Ministry said Sunday.

The soldier was on patrol when the vehicle in which he was travelling ran over the bomb in the southern province of Helmand on Saturday.

Two other British soldiers died in the province Wednesday when a bomb detonated while they were on patrol with Afghan troops. dpa
