London  - British security experts were Sunday investigating what was termed a "suspicious device" aboard an Emirates Airline plane that had landed at London's Gatwick airport, the BBC reported.

The broadcaster said the flight had arrived from Dubai. All passengers and crew were evacuated and the plane was in a holding area of the airport, which had reopened after being temporarily closed.

"There was something on board they were not happy about," airport spokesperson Julie Ayres was quoted as saying. The plane had landed safely early Sunday. dpa
