Britain's last World War I veteran dies at 111
London - Britain's last surviving World War I veteran, Harry Patch, died Saturday at the age of 111 years, his nursing home in Somerset in western England reported.
Patch was born in 1898 and so witnessed three different centuries and six British monarchs.
His death comes just a week after Henry Allingham, the previously- oldest man in the world - and likewise a World War I veteran - died at the age of 113. (dpa)
