Board exams are boon for some

The HSC and SSC Board examinations have come as a blessing for many students. Educational institutes which are centres for the Board exams have cancelled the classes for other students so that the examinations are not disturbed.

According to most school authorities they are either cancelling the lectures completely or giving half days as they want to ensure that students do not loiter around in the campus while the exams are going on. Another reason cited is the constraint of classrooms and teachers. "The number of students appearing this time has increased and hence we have to allocate more classrooms and teachers for supervision," said Principal of Modern College, Vashi Dr A S Burungale. He further informed that this year around 1,150 students have got his college as the centre for their HSC examination which is commencing today.

This decision has come as relief for most students as they would either be able relax and enjoy their day after half day of school or get enough time for revision before their exams which will commence immediately after the Board exams. One of the teachers from a Vashi-based school said that the students will have classes till 10 am. "We finish our portions accordingly so that the students can study and revise at home, while the teachers have to go for the board examination supervision," she said.

Dhruv Rajesh, a first year BSc student from a Vashi-based college said that he would have classes only till 9.30 am and he would be free for the rest of the day until the class XII exams are over. "This is like a mini-break as we would be free for the rest of the day. We plan to watch a movie after the class," he said. However it's the teachers who would be having a busy day.
