Billie Piper nervous over hooker role
London, Sept 19 : Actress Billie Piper revealed that she is nervous about playing the role of a prostitute called Belle De Jour in a new eight-part ITV2 drama, The Secret Diary Of A Call Girl.
The actress fears how people would react to her new role, especially after the popular tomboy role of Rose Tyler in Doctor Who series.
“It’s quite scary thinking people are going to see you in that way for the first time and that people may treat you slightly differently,” Daily Express quoted Piper, as saying.
“But I considered this job more than anything before. It’s such a different world to what I know.
“Obviously it’s quite full on. It’s not just one sex scene here and there, it’s endless! It’s intimate, really intimate. I’m really scared, if I’m honest. I’m nervous because of the nature of the show.
“The kids who watched me in Doctor Who shouldn’t watch me in this. I have this abiding fear of people thinking I leapt at the chance to appear in a series that’s heavy on sex and that therefore I’m some sort of tart. I hope people think it’s been handled well and that at times it makes people laugh and that people can get over the initial shock factor of the piece,” she added.
Billie soon realized there was no room for prudishness, when it comes to acting out sexual fantasies.
“I got quite shy about certain things I had to do at first. But I got myself into a kind of trance and then just went for it. You can’t get precious about what you show because you’re playing someone who has sex for a living. I just couldn’t get prudish about it,” Piper said.
“I was nervous about all the sex scenes but the crew was great. I didn’t feel I could demand to be covered up all the time as soon as the cameras stopped rolling. So I kind of got used to being on set with no clothes on and in the end was pretty comfortable about it,” she added. (With inputs from ANI)
