Bikes 30%, Cars 38% up in July
According to the figures released by automotive industry body, Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), the domestic passenger car sales climbed up by 37.95 per cent to 1,58,764 units in July, which is way up as compared to 1,15,084 units in the same month last year.
Moreover, the data also explained the fact that the motorcycle sales in the country grew by 30.09 per cent to 7,10,621 units during the month under review from 5,46,233 units in the same month last year. It is to be mentioned here that the two-wheeler sales in July increased 30.41 per cent to 9, 38,514 units from 7,19,656 units in July 2009.
In fact the sales of commercial vehicles jumped up by close to 36.99 per cent standing at 51,481 units from a level of 37,580 units in the year-ago period.
Banking on factors like the high consumer sentiment, the overall sales across categories witnessed a growth of 31.50 per cent to 12,37,461 units in July against 9,41,070 units in the same month last year. Overall, the industry has seen over a 35% growth in the first four months of the fiscal year so far.
