Biggest ever burglary of jewellery reported in Kanpur
An incident of burglary had shaken the entirecity on Monday, when some mysterious burglars steal gold, silver and diamond jewellery worth Rs 2 crore from a three storied Jewellery store located in the high class PPN market. The occurrence of the theft was first witnessed by the owner of the store, Dileep Agarwal, who opened the store in the morning.
He was traumatized when he saw; every single piece of jewellery had been taken away by the burglars. He found not a single piece in any of the showcases and jewellery boxes. Vaults were broken and everything was in dismantled condition. It was discovered that these criminals had used gas cutters to open the locks.
Police officials soon take the charge of this entire episode, arranging dog squads on the zero ground and locating finger prints, forensic department experts have been called to proceed with the detail investigation. The incident site was examined by senior police officials along with the DIG and a large police force. It was reported the thieves had made their entry from the third floor of the building which was adjacent to a school.
SO Colonelganj told TOI that these robbers have chosen the terrace of PPN Degree College to make their way to the store. Investigating team had gathered few broken locks, some iron rods, cutters and levers from the store. These burglars have vanished every single piece of jewellery present at the second and ground floor, leaving a room on third floor leaving nothing untouched. They had even taken away Dileep's laptop. Police officials have recovered two Reliance sim cards from the spot but the police is still looking out for the person to whom these cards belongs.
