Barnes and Noble to launch new Nook e-readers, tablets in the UK

Barnes and Noble to launch new Nook e-readers, tablets in the UKBarnes and Noble is planning t launch a series of Nook e-readers as well as two new tablet computers, the Nook HD and the Nook HD+ in the UK.

The company is looking to compete with Apple and more importantly with cheaply priced Amazon's Kindle and Google's Nexus. The company believes that its e-readers will be seen as abetter alternative to Kindle, and its Nook colour tablets will be able to compete with Google Nexus and the Kindle Fire tablets in the UK market.

The new Nook Simple Touch Glowlight tablet will come a host of impressive features including a inbuilt light allowing the user to use the device in the dark. The company will also offer access to Barnes and Noble online store, which offers 2.5 million books along with content form all of the leading newspapers and magazines. The users will also be able to access movies and TV series on their devices through the online store.

Due to the overwhelming dominance of Amazon in e-books - and Apple in tablets, many believe that a new entrant from Barnes and Noble will find it difficult to compete in the market. It is to be seen if the company is able to attract new customers in the country.
