Barack, Michelle Obama's 'first date' set to be turned into movie 'Southside with you'
Washington, Dec. 06 : The event of Barack Obama and Michelle Robinson's first date in 1989 is all set to be turned into a movie, dubbed as ' Southside with you .'
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tika Sumpter will play the role of first lady of US, while no actor has yet been cast as the president.
The movie will focus on the day in 1989 when first-year law student Obama wooed the American writer with a trip around Chicago. They visited the Art Institute of Chicago, took a long walk around the city and went to see 'Do the Right Thing,' the film by a relatively unknown Spike Lee that had just come out in theaters.
Richard Tanne will direct from a script he wrote. 'The Worst Friends' writer developed the idea with Sumpter, with whom he will executive produce. Tracey Bing and Stephanie Allain will produce for Allain's Homegrown Pictures. The film aims to shoot in Chicago in July. (ANI)
