Bajaj Auto changes its three-wheelers strategy

Bajaj-Three-WheelerAfter the much-hyped RE600 cargo three-wheeler launched in September last year failed to bring any revolution in the Indian three-wheeler industry as it was once desired, Bajaj Auto has decided to have a look at its strategy in the three-wheeler segment.

The company has recently launched the two BS III-complaint three-wheeler passenger vehicles - RE 145D in CNG, LPG and petrol version and the diesel model RE 445M in the Indian market aiming to gain the lost ground in the marketplace.

With the RE 145D petrol priced at Rs 97,973 ex-showroom Pune and the RE 445M at Rs 1,21,367, the company is aiming to focus on the more profitable segment that stands for almost 47% of the total market.

With the company now focusing on the passenger three-wheelers segment it is quite evident that it will be playing in the segment which attribute almost 90% of the total sales happening in the three-wheeler industry while the rest 10% in contributed by the cargo segment. With the change in the focus, the company is also aiming to invest in technology development in three-wheelers as much as it had done in motorcycles over the years.
