Australian unemployment rate for March remains steady, while grows in South Australia

UnemploymentThe nation's unemployment rate remained steady in the month of March, while some states reported an increased jobless rate in March. South Australia, NSW, Victoria and Western Australia are the states where the unemployment rate was reported up in the month of March.

The state of South Australia reported the highest growth in the unemployment rate, according to the data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics today.

Australian Bureau of Statistics said that Australia's unemployment rate was reported of 5.3% for the month of March. The rate is reportedly unchanged compared to the previous month. On the other hand, the jobless rate in South Australia was reported of 5.4% in March from 4.8% reported in previous month.

The Government of South Australia said it is unsure about the reasons for the growth in the unemployment rate in March. However, employment minister Jack Snelling said that the jump defies the record number in jobs.

"Could be any number factors, it being March, it could be a bit of a monthly aberration but really what we need to look at is the underlying trend figures and the underlying trend figures show that the economy under the stewardship of the Rann Government is ticking along very well," said Jack Snelling, SA Employment Minister.

The data of Australian Bureau of Statistics showed that the unemployment rate in NSW rose to 5.5% from 5.4%, while the rate in Victoria grew to 5.4% from 5.3% and in Western Australia it rose to 5.1% from 5.0%.
