Audi 225 Front Roadster at Essen classic show

Audi 225 Front Roadster at Essen classic show Ingolstadt, Germany  - As part of its centenary celebrations, Audi will exhibit a 1935 Audi 225 Front Roadster, which has been reconstructed on an original frame, at this month's Essen Techno Classica show.

Audi hailed the vehicle as one of the "most spectacular cars" during the recently opened exhibition "Horch - an Audi!" at the company museum in Ingolstadt, south-west Germany.

The Roadster was first presented at the 1935 Berlin Motor Show in a gleaming white finish. Only two prototypes were built because it was deemed too expensive for series production. Both prototypes disappeared and the company decided to build a replica working on photographs.

Also on display at the show in Essen, which opened on April 5, is the Type C "Alpine Champion" with which company founder August Horch won the Austrian Alpine Rally in 1912, 1913 and 1914. (dpa)
