Asus announces availability of its 13.3-inch Taichi 31 ultrabook
Asus recently announced the availability of its 13.3-inch Taichi 31 ultrabook which runs Windows 8 as well as Windows 8 Pro; and unfolds a new design form factor for the Windows 8 ultrabooks.
The specifications of the Asus Taichi 31 - the pricing of which still remains undisclosed; though speculated to be around $1,300 - were announced by the company's CEO in a recent press release, in which it was also mentioned that the shipments of the ultrabook in the US will commence immediately after the press release.
The Taichi 31 ultrabook features two 13.3-inch Super IPS+ back-to-back displays, both of which are capable of supporting FULL HD 1080p resolution. The outer 1080p display is also a touchscreen, which enables the users to close the ultrabook and use it like a tablet if required. In addition, the device also has a stylus to facilitate interaction with the touchscreen.
Some of the other noteworthy features of the Asus Taichi 31 ultrabook include the option of a Intel Ivy Bridge i5 or i7 processor; an SSD drive; 4GB RAM; 5-megapixel back camera; and a 720p front-facing high definition video camera.
Equipped with the Windows 8 operating system, the Taichi 31 ultrabook also boasts dual-band WiFi; Bluetooth 4.0; two USB 3.0 ports; SD card reader; and a battery life of up to 7 hours on a single charge, thanks to ASUS's Super Hybrid Engine II technology.
