Asif Ali Zardari says Pak govt, Army, intelligence agencies enjoying good relations
Lahore, July 29: The Pakistan government, the Army and the intelligences agencies were enjoying good mutual relations, but some elements were spreading rumours about differences between the three, PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said.
Zardari said that the notification regarding the placement of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) under the Interior Ministry’s control took place due to a ‘misunderstanding’.
It had been made clear in the first notification that the role of the Interior Ministry would be of an assistant in the affairs looked after by the ISI, he said and added that the second notification had clarified all ambiguities in this regard, reported the Daily Times.
The government had on Saturday announced to bring ISI and Intelligence Bureau under the Interior Ministry’s control, a decision that had been welcomed politicians as well as citizens. However, a notification cancelling the move was issued by the Press Information Department early on Sunday. Finally, the ISI and IB were put under the interior ministry. (ANI)
