Hinduja group flagship firm Ashok Leyland has recently said that it has bagged an order worth Rs. 120 crore from the People's Leasing Company in Sri Lanka.

While the scale of the order is as big as 1,000 buses, the company said in a statement that it is the single largest order from the country for the company.

Moreover, the statement issued by the company also highlighted the fact that the deliveries of the ordered 1,000 'Viking' buses, varying from 42 - 58 seaters, will commence with immediate effect and have to be completed before March 2011.

While the order is partly funded by Asian development bank, it may be note here that the buses will be sold by the People's Leasing Company to the country's private sector.

Ashok Leyland Managing Director R Seshasayee said that the company has played a very important role in the development of Sri Lanka as country.

Moreover, the MD of the company also said that its contribution is not only limited to providing right set of vehicles but also employment to the local residents of the country.
