Arushi's father arrested on charges of murder in NOIDA
NOIDA (Uttar Pradesh), May 23 : NOIDA Police today arrested Rajesh Talwar on charges of murdering his daughter Arushi.
Arushi's parents, Dr. Nupur and Dr. Rajesh Talwar were questioned for five hours on Thursday night and again today at an undisclosed location, during which Dr. Rajesh made contradictory statements.
Both husband and wife were dentists at the Fortis Hospital in NOIDA. They also ran a private clinic at their residence in partnership with another dental surgeon couple Dr. Anita and Dr. Praful Durrani.
Police said Rajesh and Anita were having an affair which Arushi knew about and was uncomfortable with.
Arushi, a class IX student of Delhi Public School in NOIDA, was found in her bedroom with her throat slit last Friday. A day later, Hemraj, the Nepali help of the Talwar household, who was initially named as prime suspect by NOIDA Police, was found dead on the terrace. His throat was also slit in a similar manner.
On Friday, police confirmed that both murders were committed by Talwar. Anita Durrani has also been named an accomplice, while Arushi's mother Nupur, has been detained for abettment and is being questioned.
NOIDA Senior Superintendent of Police A Satish Ganesh, said Arushi was murdered because she had come to know about her father's illicit relationship with Dr Anita Durrani.
Police had earlier declared Hemraj as their suspect, but were red-faced when he was found murdered on the terrace of the Talwars' home, a day later. (ANI)
