Apple's iPad Mini to be manufactured by Pegatron, Foxconn

Apple's iPad Mini to be manufactured by Pegatron, FoxconnTaiwanese newspaper Economic Daily News has revealed in a recent report that assembler Pegatron will manufacture the majority of the much-anticipated smaller version of the Apple iPad - the iPad Mini.

Noting that most of the iPad Mini production will be done by Pegatron instead of Foxconn, the Economic Daily News report has specified that 50-60 percent of the production orders for the iPad Mini have been secured by Pegatron; with the production of the tablet having already begun or likely to commence soon.

With Foxconn - which was the only company to assemble the iPad till now - also to produce the iPad Mini along with Pegatron, the newspaper report said that up to 5 million units of the iPad Mini will apparently be manufactured by the two companies every month.

The Economic Daily News report, about Pegatron producing iPad Mini, substantiates some earlier rumors which claimed that Pegatron could possibly start producing Apple devices, and will probably be involved in the manufacturing of the iPhone 5, the iPad, and the iPad Mini.

In fact, with the assembler having reportedly secured an iPad Mini production order, it is now being speculated that the company could also land some production orders for the new Apple iPhone - the iPhone 5 -, especially since it may be difficult for one manufacturer to supply the expected 53 iPhone 5 million units which are scheduled to be shipped in 2012.
