Apple puts its product back on EPEAT registry list
Technology giant, Apple has said that it has put all of its products back on an environmental rating system, which once assessed the company’s products with relation to environmental impacts.
Apple, based in Cupertino, California, said that all of the products that are eligible have been again put on the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool registry. The company said that it made a mistake of removing its products from the list and is looking to work with EPEAT, which is a non-profit organization.
The exit of the company from the registry might have halted the sale of company devices to governments and universities, as they use the registry while deciding upon which devices to purchase. Robert Frisbee, EPEAT’s chief executive officer said that the group is looking to work with the company’s creative thoughts on ongoing standards development.
Bob Mansfield, Apple’s senior vice president for hardware engineering said in a company statement posted on its website that leaving the group was mistake and all the products are back on the registry.
“It’s important to know that our commitment to protecting the environment has never changed, and today it is as strong as ever,” Mansfield said
