Apple to continue its domination over tablet market, GartnerInternational research firm, Gartner ha said that it expects Apple to continue its domination over the global tablet market in 2011 with market share of 73.4 per cent.

The research firm said that the Google Android powered tablets come in a distant second with a global market share of 17.3 per cent. Other platforms are not expected to exceed the limit of 83 per cent of the market.

"We expect Apple to maintain a market share lead throughout our forecast period by commanding more than 50 per cent of the market until 2014. This is because Apple delivers a superior and unified user experience across its hardware, software and services," said Carolina Milanesi, research vice president at Gartner.

She also said that unless other manufacturers come up with a similar approach to Apple, the company's is unlikely to be challenged significantly. She pointed out that Apple planned for the evolution for this market including its suppliers providing memory and screen components.

"This allowed Apple to bring the iPad out at a very competitive price with no compromise in experience among the different models that offer storage and connectivity options," she added.
