Android sales rose to four times in a month
A fourfold rise in the sale of Android-based smartphones was observed, according to a report released by the research company GfK Retail and Technology.
The findings of the report reveal that the monthly contract sales of Android smartphones rose from 3 percent to 12.3 percent. This data revealed the stats from last two weeks of March and the first two weeks of April show that the proportion. At the same time Google's mobile platform saw a surge in market share which rose from 1.6 percent to 6.7 percent. Also, the revealing that one out of five smartphones is now an Android based.
The success is being attributed to the numerous releases of interesting models such as the Nexus One and more recently the HTC Desire, Legend and Tattoo. To top this smartphone makers have opened a wide range of app market with over 500,000 apps.
These Advanced OS machines now surmount to an approximate of 38 percent of the total handset market which again is rising significantly.
