AMD introduces Radeon HD 5800 series
AMD, a renowned name in computer processor industry, has introduced the most powerful graphic card series ATI Radeon HD 5800. Initially introducing two cards, the ATI Radeon HD 5870 and the ATI Radeon HD 5850, with a storage capacity of 1GB GDDR5, the company aims to strengthen its market position.
More products in the series may come up by next year with added features and improved product supports.
The new card series will be fully supported by Microsoft DirectX 11 and some add-in-board companies such as ASUS, Club 3D, Diamond Multimedia, PowerColor, SAPPHIRE Technology, VisionTek, Force3D, GIGABYTE, HIS, MSI, Multimedia and XFX.
The series, first ever to support DirectX 11, is designed to drive up to 2.72 Tera FLOPS of compute power in a single card, the company claims.
