Alphabet-Owned Company introduces New Atlas Robot That Does Tasks
Have you ever thought what if robots would surround us? If not, you must now turn fanciful with the idea. Boston Dynamics has released a video showing their latest version of atlas robot. The robotics design company is owned by Alphabet, formerly known as Google. In the video, atlas can be seen moving boxes and regaining balance again after being knocked down.
The video was released on Tuesday and received more than eight million views in two days. The video showed how the robot is capable of performing human like tasks. It walked with ease on different surfaces, it walked on snow, indoors and outdoors. It even copied action of lifting and then placing boxes on shelves after a man. It was surprising to see the robot restoring its balance after being knocked down.
“Robots are workforce napalm for American workers. It is the death of the paycheck for the American worker. . . We really need to begin to think about these things because it’s coming sooner than you think. . . We need a plan for these things to protect the American worker”, said Eric Schiffer, CEO at Patriarch Equity.
With this robot’s introduction, people can’t stop imagining the world filled by robots replacing human in various aspects. People even addressed it as end of the manual labor. However, it would replace humans in a dangerous situation that is of tremendous advantage. Though there are chances many of the jobs will no longer remain labor intensive, this would lead to less danger and loss to human resource.
The occupations which are most likely to be replaced by robots are some kinds of jobs in the US Army, Police Departments (Bomb disposal teams, SWAT), Fire Departments, Road & Bridge Construction Companies and Mining Companies, etcetera. Robots are not likely to dominate entire job sector as being inferior to man.
