Airbus to bring all Indian operations under one umbrella

Airbus to bring all Indian operations under one umbrellaAircraft maker Airbus is bringing all of its Indian businesses under one umbrella in order to increase synergies and provide its customers with a single point of interaction.

On Tuesday, Airbus announced the launch of a fully-owned subsidiary called Airbus India, which will cater to the company's inflating customer base in the country.

The European aircraft maker believes that the establishment of a fully-owned subsidiary in India would help it promote innovation, respond swiftly to growth and hunt for new cooperation opportunities in the country.

Charles Champion and Srinivasan Dwarakanath have been appointed as the chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Indian subsidiary.

Airbus India's newly appointed CEO said, "Building on our significant engineering presence in India the new company structure will add a strong customer facing element making us more agile, bringing us closer to stakeholders, suppliers, and also to new talent."

Airbus Executive Vice President Kiran Rao said the company had been extending its industrial cooperation partnerships with India for the last many years, adding that the Asian country offered great aviation growth potentials.

Currently, Indian airlines operate a fleet of more than 170 Airbus aircrafts.  The manufacturer's market share of sales in India stands at slightly more than 60 per cent of the whole aircraft backlog.
