Agyaat not a horror movie
Ram Gopal Varma has some ingrained streak which always lands him in controversies. Recently, he was in news for the song 'Jai Shri Shambhu' from his forthcoming film Agyaat.
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) objected to the song, in which Priyanka Kothari is puffing a 'chillum' (pipe) while she sings "Dum Maro, yeh hai Sahara". The board asked the director to re-direct the scene as it promotes substance abuse.
Ram Gopal Varma has decided to remove the objectionable scene from the song meant for TV viewers, but it will be there in the DVD.
Varma said: "We have altered the song because the censor board thinks it is not viable for audiences of TV, which is a mass medium, though the big screen version might carry it in accordance with the certification of the film. The DVD version will however carry the scene without any doubt."
He also stressed that the movie is not a horror movie; it is basically a thriller. But from the promos, people perceive that Agyaat is horror about some invisible killer or ghost.
Agyaat is story about a film unit on a shoot in a dense forest; and then crew members start getting killed one by one under mysterious circumstances by an invisible creature.
