5,000 heavy duty vans recalled by General Motors
Nearly 5,000 heavy duty vans are being recalled amid concerns of potential engine fires, General Motors Co. has said.
While General Motors is recalling thousands of heavy-duty 2010 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana passenger and cargo vans, GM spokesman Alan Adler assured the public the recall issue has not resulted in any accidents or injuries to date, the Detroit News said on Saturday.
Three fires did take place after the vans were manufactured and left the assembly plant, Adler said. The vans being recalled were all manufactured in February or March.
General Motors is no longer selling the vehicles and owners of the vehicles are being asked to stop driving the vans.
Van owners are also being asked to keep the vehicles outside away from buildings and, if owners are capable, to disconnect the vehicle's battery cables, the Detroit News further informed.
The recall is focused on the 2500, three-quarter ton, and 3500, one-ton, Series vans, General Motors said. (With Inputs from Agencies)
