Nirmal Pandey, the 48 year old film and TV actor, best known for his roles in Bandit Queen and Train to Pakistan, passed away on February 18, 2010 at about 2:30 PM (IST). Reportedly, the actor suffered a severe heart attack, and died while he was on his way to the Holy Spirit Hospital in Andheri, Mumbai.

"Nirmal was a gentle guy, and very comfortable with his softer side. That's how I remember him. I can't comment profoundly because I was out of touch with Nirmal for the past seven-eight years. I'm very sorry and guilt-ridden", said Sudhir Mishra, director of Pandey's Is Raat Ki Subah Nahi.

Pandey was a graduate from the National School of Drama, and a part of Tara, a London based theater group. His latest venture, Lahore, in which he played a Pakistani character, is all set to hit cinemas on March 19.

Pandey is survived by wife Archana.
