Warne again in hot water over ‘Code of Behaviour’ breach

Shane-Warne_Sydney, Jan 17 : Legendary leg-spinner Shane Warne has been reported for breaching Cricket Australia's (CA) Code of Behaviour during Melbourne Stars' Big Bash League semi-final clash with Perth Scorchers on Wednesday.

The Melbourne Stars captain, who was on one strike for slow-over rates and faced an automatic one-match suspension for a second strike, was not listed as the team''s official captain on the team sheet for the last night''s game, News. com. au reports.

Instead, young pace man James Faulkner was named captain and took part in the coin toss with Scorchers captain Simon Katich, it further reported. In a statement, CA said Warne is accused to have breached Rule 5: Laws of Cricket and Spirit of the Game.

A CA statement said on 5 December 2012, KFC T20 Big Bash League teams were sent a memo by Cricket Australia and under the heading ''Over Rates'', the memo stated that, ''If a team's official captain is selected but not named as captain, this will be considered against the Spirit of Cricket and may attract a Code of Behaviour charge''.

Stars vice-captain Cameron White is also on one strike, having filled in for Warne when the spin legend was banned for one game following a fiery clash with Melbourne Renegades batsman Marlon Samuels earlier this month, the paper said.

Warne was also fined 4500 dollars from other charges stemming from the match against the Melbourne Renegades. The time and date of this latest hearing is yet to be determined. (ANI)
