Two killed in blast in southern Philippines
Zamboanga City, Philippines - Two people were killed Sunday by explosives used in illegal fishing in the southern Philippines, police said.
Five people were also wounded by the blast in a house in the fishing village of Bangkal in Patikul town on Jolo island, 1,000 kilometres south of Manila.
Senior Police Superintendent Jularisim Kasim said the blast was caused by dynamite and other explosives that were kept for use in illegal fishing.
Kasim said investigators were still determining what set off the explosion, which appeared to be accidental. dpa
