Toyota partners with IGU to promote golfWith a view to establish the Etios brand under which the company will be selling its hatchback in the Indian market, Toyota has announced that it has partnered with the Indian Golf Union to sponsor the National junior Golf Tour as the Toyota Etios Tour 2010.

The company has globally been a supporter of Golf but in India this is the first time the company has entered into sponsoring sports events. In fact, it is believed that this junior tournament will also play a major role in discovering potential Olympians to represent India at the 2016 Olympic Games.

Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor explained that the sponsorship lasts for three years and it is the first biggest commitment that Toyota Kirloskar motors has made to any sporting event in the Indian market.

Moreover, he also mentioned the fact that the sponsorship is aiming to promote the game in the country and since golf is all about perfection it matches with the DNA of Toyota.

This Junior Golf Tour will be of 7 rounds wherein each round will be four days long. Notably, the first round kicked off today at Golden Greens Golf Resort Gurgaon where close to 120 junior golfers from across the country in the age group of 10 - 18 will be participating.
