T-Mobile to offer truly unlimited data plan from Sept. 5

T-Mobile to offer truly unlimited data plan from Sept. 5In what will mark a strategy similar to the one followed by Sprint Nextel, a truly unlimited data plan - sans any caps, stifled connections, or extra-usage charges - will be offered by T-Mobile USA from September 5.

The new unlimited data plan which T-Mobile is coming up with will combine unlimited voice calling and text messages, and will be priced between $69.99 and $89.99 a month, depending on whether the customers opt for a subsidized handset.

According to the information shared by T-Mobile, the forthcoming offer of new unlimited data plan will come over and above its other data plans which the carrier will continue to sell, including the option of selecting among 2 GB, 5 GB or 10 GB of data per month.

T-Mobile also revealed that its decision to offer a fully unlimited data plan was prompted by customer demand. As such, it is evident that the change is essentially aimed at helping the carrier the feeling of customers, as well as distinguishing itself from bigger rivals - Verizon and AT&T - that have started imposing increased restrictions on data use.

Meanwhile, though Sprint already offers a fully unlimited data plan, T-Mobile is of the opinion that its offering will be much more attractive than Sprint's. Noting that the unlimited data plan offered by Sprint lacks the same coverage for high-speed wireless services, Harry Thomas - T-Mobile's segment marketing director - said the new T-mobile plan will be a "counter-punch to every option that's out there."
