Tata Chemicals registers decline of 33% in FY09 net profitTata Chemicals, a leading manufacturer of inorganic chemicals and fertilizers in India, has witnessed a decline of 32.79 per cent in its consolidated net profit, which dropped to Rs 648.10 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2009.

The company was posted a net profit worth Rs 964.40 crore in the year-ago period.      

Further, the company registered a growth of 87 per cent in its total income, which surged to Rs 12,341.04 crore, compared with Rs 6,607.01 crore in the year-ago period.

On a standalone basis, the company posted a net profit of Rs 452.05 crore in the fiscal ended March 2009, down 52 per cent, against Rs 949.18 crore in the previous fiscal.      

However, the standalone total income of the company grew by 82% to Rs 8,517.67 crore at the end of FY09, while it was at Rs 4,677.37 crore in FY08.      

The board of directors of the company has approved a dividend of 90% at the rate of Rs 9 per share, on the face value of Rs 10, for the financial year ended March 2009.      

Shares of Tata Chemical closed at Rs 226.05, up 2.07 on the BSE today. The scrip has made 52-week-high and low of Rs 440 and Rs 99 respectively.
