London, Jan 28 : British sprinter Dwain Chambers, who is a former doping offender, has said that coming clean will be a help for disgraced cycling star Lance Armstrong, in the same way as it helped him.

The athlete, who was banned for two years after testing positive for the steroid tetrahydrogestrinone (THG) in 2003, said that being honest about his mistakes has helped him enter the new season without any stress and without the risk of uncertainty, the Daily Mail reports.

Chambers hopes that people will learn to forgive Armstrong just as they forgave him. He said it is important to set a good example and be honest about any mistakes committed as any stars in the sporting field have young people looking up to them.

Chambers is of the opinion that he has finally been accepted again by his sport.

The British Olympic Association's lifetime ban for doping offenders was overturned in April 2012, enabling Chambers to compete at his home Games - 12 years after he came fourth in the 100 metres in Sydney. (ANI)
