New Delhi, July 8 : Having touched everyone with her inspiring tale of resilience and unmeasured strength, ace Indian sprinter Dutee Chand has now turned her entire attention on next month's Rio Olympics.

The 20-year-old, hailing from Jajpur district in Odisha, overcame all sorts of ordeals to secure her berth for the Rio Games in the women's 100 metres category. She surpassed qualification norm of 11.32 seconds by clocking
11.30s in a qualifying event at the XXVI International Meeting G.Kosanov in Kazakhstan last month.

Taoyuan City: Left to compete within an hour of reaching here from China, promising sprinter Dutee Chand won the gold in women's 100m sprint event in the Taiwan Open Athletics Championships today.

Dutee competed the 100m heats within an hour of reaching Taiwan from Beijing and five hours later ran the finals which she won in 11.50secs to bag the gold.

Her timing was far below the Olympics qualification standard of 11.32 secs.

Long jumper Ankit Sharma leapt 7.67m on his last attempt to also seal a gold medal.

Doha: Long jumper Mayookha Johny fetched India a gold medal while sprinter Dutee Chand settled for a bronze after shattering national record in 60m dash in the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships here.

Mayookha controlled the long jump competition from the very outset and finished on top of the podium with a leap of 6.35m, an effort that propelled her to India's first Asian indoor title in the event.

Bui Thi Thu Thao of Vietnam took the silver with a 6.30m jump while Olga Rypakova of Kazakhstan finished third with an effort of
6.22m.

New Delhi - Indian athlete Dutee Chand has been cleared to participate in next year's National Games after the Court of Arbitration allowed her to compete pending a final decision on her appeal against the IAAF's hyperandrogenism policy, which bars female athletes having higher level of male hormones.
