Saina rises to No.7, Sindhu in top-10

Saina-NehwalNew Delhi, Jan 30 : Bolstered by the India Grand Prix Gold triumph Sunday, Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal jumped two places to No. 7 in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) women’s singles rankings released Thursday.

Saina overtook German Juliane Schenk and Chinese Taipei’s Tai Tzu Ying to rise up the ladder.

Meanwhile, runner-up of the Lucknow event P. V. Sindhu entered the top-10 for the second time in her career. The World Championship bronze medallist equalled her best ranking (No. 10) by rising a place in the same category.

Men’s singles runner-up at the India Grand Prix Gold Kidambi Srikanth made a remarkable leap of 10 places to be ranked No. 20, overtaking Mumbai’s Ajay Jayaram, who dropped a place to No. 22.

Parupalli Kashyap, however, is the best ranked Indian male shuttler at No. 18.(IANS)
